The addition will be made only for classes 8 to 12. Now there will be two periods a week for Edusat library instead of one.

Talking to Hindustan Times, district education officer, secondary, Paramjit Kaur Chahal, said, "We have received the instructions that have been sent to respective government schools. The schools have been asked to add one more period in the timetable for Edusat library and school heads have been asked to maintain a separate attendance register. Moreover, the school heads will make it a point that the feedback is sent to the head office. If there is a free period, then adjustment should be made for the Edusat library."

The school heads and subjects in-charge must keep the record of the Edusat programme in the register with the students' details and name of the teacher on duty.

The school heads have also been instructed that the Edusat library period is compulsory.

The principals of the government in-service training centre and DIET will send an evaluation report on the programmes telecast every week to the head office on edusat.punjab@gmail.com.

It is for the first time that students of class 11 will be delivered a lecture on soft skills (English) as this was introduced this year only. The English and subject teachers were provided training in February on soft skills.

What are soft skills?

Soft skills are generally referred to as interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people. This includes team spirit, business etiquette, negotiation skills and behavioural traits such as attitude, motivation and time management.
