Several supporters of Venod resign from Congress

A number of Congress party office-bearers and sarpanches on Thursday resigned from the primary membership of the party in support of MLA Venod Sharma. Venod's supporters had gathered at his Model Town residence.

A number of Congress party office-bearers and sarpanches on Thursday resigned from the primary membership of the party in support of MLA Venod Sharma. Venod's supporters had gathered at his Model Town residence.

Prominent Congress leaders who have resigned from the party are HPCC member and former marketing committee member Parminder Babala, former DCC president and current party spokesperson Arun Garg, Youth Congress president Jasmeet Singh Tony, former chairman Priyadarshni Awas Yogna Sudhir Goldy, Block 2 Congress Committee (rural) president Punch Ram, Congress Block 1 (urban) president Ajaib Singh, former district president NSUI president Sukhchain Singh Sukhi, former municipal councillor Brij Lal Singla and former improvement trust Chairman Karnail Bhai.

The leaders asserted that they would remain aligned with Venod who had tirelessly worked for the development of Ambala City.

Talking to the media, Garg claimed that more Congress leaders, including some sitting councilors, owing allegiance to Venod would leave the party in the coming days.
