Shaheedi Jor Mela comes to end

The three-day Shaheedi Jor Mela came to an end here on Thursday with the bhog ceremony of Guru Granth Sahib at gurdwara Jyoti Swarup and the grand religious procession taken out from gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib.

The three-day Shaheedi Jor Mela came to an end here on Thursday with the bhog ceremony of Guru Granth Sahib at gurdwara Jyoti Swarup and the grand religious procession taken out from gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib.

Giani Tarlochan Singh, jathedar, Takht Keshgarh Sahib, performed 'ardas' at gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, after which the religious procession proceeded towards gurdwara Jyoti Swarup.

Braving fog and chill, lakhs of devotees drawn from different parts of the country and abroad took part in the procession. The entire route was decorated with buntings, flags and banners and devotees showered flower petals on the vehicle carrying the Guru Granth Sahib palanquin. Gatka performances were the main attraction of the procession.

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar called upon the Sikhs to follow the teachings of gurus. Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organised a langar.
