Even as protesters also set ablaze an effigy of Sajjan Kumar, police diverted traffic to other routes so as not to inconvenience commuters.

Jathedar Jasbir Sandhu, circle president of Shiromani Akali Dal said that the Sikhs were not happy with the verdict and the community would fight till the last to ensure justice caught up with Sajjan Kumar.

He said that the victims of the 1984 riots should get justice and the culprits punished. He warned that they would intensify protests if justice was not done.
