Several social organisations organised a joint protest and took out a rally here on Saturday to seek an unconditional apology from chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for his alleged misbehaviour with a delegation of ASHA workers in New Delhi.
Activists of All India Democratic Women Association, Centre of Indian Trade Union, Janwadi Naujawan Sabha, All India Kisan Sabha, All India Khet Mazdoor Union, Student Federation of India and Viklang Adhikar Manch gathered at Chottu Ram Chowk.
The protesters who organised a dharna at Chottu Ram Chowk also demanded respectable remuneration for ASHA workers, besides protection of rights of trade unions in the state. A delegation also handed over a memorandum addressed to the President and governor at the deputy commissioner's residence, in which they cited that how the chief minister on December 1 at his New Delhi residence 'misbehaved' with them. They alleged that a trade union general secretary, Satbir Singh, was threatened with dire consequences in the same meeting.

They added that long-pending demands of better pay to ASHA workers should be accepted as they were denied the opportunity at the Congress' Gohana rally on November 10.
