On one hand some singers, including Harbhajan Mann, Jazzy-B, Diljit Dosanjh and Gippy Grewal had to face criticism of people after they campaigned in favour of ruling alliance Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), on the other hand some singers have tried to present entirely different picture of Punjab through their videos, which are hit among people.

Ludhiana-based Punjabi singer and lyrics writer Ravinder Singh Ranguwal has come up with a song video that is sarcasm on the corrupt politicians. The song is a hit on social networking site YouTube.

The song titled 'Punjab' is about the leaders who betrayed Punjab, and encouraged drug peddling that engulfed lives of many. The singer has also highlighted unemployment, inflation, paid news, female foeticide and crime against women. Through the song, he also emphasises on how leaders influence everything, including routes of buses, to reap benefits.

Ranguwal said he had written the lyrics while travelling in aeroplane from Papua New Guinea to Toronto in 2013.

“While staying abroad I missed my motherland a lot. While travelling, a thought of Punjab its problems came in my mind, and I wrote it immediately,” Ranguwal said.

He said, “After coming back I shared the lyrics with my friends who encouraged me to compose it. Following which, I composed the song and a video was made.”

“I have posted the video on several social networking sites on Wednesday. After a few hours of posting it, people started making calls on my phone and appreciated the efforts,” he said.
Ranguwal said he is an artiste and he does not belong to any political party.

It is pertinent to mention that in this election season several singers have composed songs on politics and have uploaded them on social networking sites. Jassi Jasraj, who is Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Bathinda, has also composed a song. Another singer Jaggi Jaggowa another singer had also uploaded a song, “Jatt Kejriwal wangu takhte palat du” that was also a hit on social media.
