A self-styled sorcerer was arrested on Thursday for raping a 19-year-old girl, who approached him for some remedies over strained relations with her boyfriend. A case under Section 376 of the IPC has been registered against the accused identified as Rizwan Malik of Bharat Nagar Chowk.
In her complaint to the police, the girl stated that she had come to know about the sorcerer through an advertisement in a newspaper. She made up her mind to get a solution to strained relationship with her boyfriend.
So, she met him on Thursday. He took `4,000 from her. She said after performing some remedies, the accused made her sniff something, following which she became unconscious. Taking advantage of her unconsciousness, the accused raped her, she alleged. After she gained consciousness, she returned home and narrated the incident to her parents, who took her to police division number 5.
The medical examination of the victim was conducted at the civil hospital which confirmed rape. Inspector Beant Juneja, station house officer at division number 5 police station, said the accused was arrested from his office at Bharat Nagar Chowk.
