Stage set to receive the procession carrying Guru Gobind's relics

All preparations have been completed to receive the procession carrying the relics of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh, which will reach Sangrur on Wednesday afternoon.

All preparations have been completed to receive the procession carrying the relics of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh, which will reach Sangrur on Wednesday afternoon.

The procession starts from Gurudwara Dukhnivaran Sahib, Patiala, tomorrow. It will culminate at Takhat Keshgarh Sahib, Anadpur Sahib, on May 20 after passing through several districts.

Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa and chief parliamentary secretary Parkash Chand Garg will receive the procession at Toll Plaza on Nabha road. Sangrur SSP MS Sidhu said all necessary security arrangements have been made and duties assigned. Inspector Sanjeev Kumar has been made over all in charge.

Giving details, Sanjeev Kumar said, 556 police personnel have been deployed. On the procession route, there will be a total of 13 halts in the district, where devotees can have a glimpse of the relics of the Guru.

After crossing the Toll Plaza, the procession will stop at Balad chowk, near old truck union Bhawanigarh; Balial village Bhawanigarh road; bus stand Faguwal and Kawala village; near Verka plant Sangrur; Barnala chowk; Max Auto chowk; Bangawali village turning point; Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib and at village Kunra on Barnala road.

Chief parliamentary secretary Parkash Chand Garg had presided over a preparatory meeting here on May 1 to review arrangements for the procession. That meeting was attended by the newly elected Dhuri MLA Gobind Singh Longowal, representatives of political, social and religious organizations, NGOs and district officials.
