Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema opens ups about his new plans for uplifting the standard of education system in the state. He also throws light on the fresh recruitments to fill vacant positions in the department.
What is being done to improve the education system?
The education department has started the process to fill 12,000 vacant posts for which a large number of applicants have applied for different posts. The government is putting in all efforts to uplift the standards of education system as three more meritorious schools in Gurdaspur, Ferozepur and Sangrur will start. The construction of these schools will be started at the earliest.
Why grant to aided schools has been reduced by 25%?
The government is trying to manage all the things. A lot has already been done to uplift the education system. The system nowadays is much better than that of a few years ago.
What is being done to uplift government schools?
The department is providing quality and free education and free clothes to the children till Class 8. Though efforts are being made to improve the condition of the schools, cent per cent can’t be ensured. The state government is doing well as fresh recruitments have been started. The main focus now is to train the teachers as the department is hiring masters for this purpose to ensure better education for students.

The state government has already opened up several government schools where the students can take admissions. The government is now mulling to discontinue the reservation scheme as government schools are situated hardly at a distance of 1 km. EWS students can take admission in the government schools as the state can’t give hefty payments to the private schools.
