Union state president Om Parkash Rana said employees had been receiving lesser wages than other employees for the last several years, making it difficult for them to meet their daily expenses.

"The union gave several representations to the government, but it did not pay heed to our demands," he alleged.

"If our demands are not met by December 15, employees will go on an indefinite strike starting December 16," he added.
