The Punjab Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the June 25 Moga shootout questioned doctors and staff at the private hospital, where two injured policemen of the Chandigarh branch were first brought for treatment, on Thursday.
Moga SP (detective) HS Pannu, who is leading the SIT and other members of the team, went to the Kaura Hospital and Multispecialty Centre on the Moga-Ludhiana national highway and questioned the owner Satish Kaura and other staff members.
Sources said that the team wanted to gain access to the CCTV footage of the day of the shootout.
“The CCTV cameras were not working at the hospital, so nothing could be recorded that day,” Dr Kaura reportedly told the investigators. It is also learnt that the police questioned the staff on the number of injured people brought to the hospital by the Chandigarh crime branch team. To this, Dr Kaura reportedly told the SIT that some people brought two men with bullets at his hospital and after firstaid, the two were referred to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana.
Sources said that the SIT will also record the statements of sub-inspector Rajdeep Singh and the head constable of UT police, who are now admitted at a Ludhiana hospital. SP (D) HS Pannu said that investigation was underway.
