A 22-year-old married woman student was crushed to death under a bus in Phagwara on Wednesday when she was trying to come out of the moving bus.

Kanika Goel, a resident of Shahkot, was pursuing her second year of Bachelors of Education (BEd) from Ramgarhia College, Phagwara.

As per information, Kanika was attempting to alight the PEPSU roadways bus from the front door near Phagwara bus stand.

Suddenly, her feet slipped from the bus and fell on the road and her head got crushed under the rear tyre of the bus.
Inderpal Singh, assistant sub-inspector, said that family members refused to lodge a first information report as they said it was her mistake.

"The body has been handed over to family members," he said.
