Students residing at the city’s Residential School for Meritorious Students have given a resounding thumbs up to the food served in the hostel mess.
Hindustan Times team that visited the mess to interact with hostellers got a positive feedback.
Most students affirmed the school teachers as well as the principal had been cooperative in ensuring quality and hygiene and they were feeling very comfortable here.
On Tuesday, the students were served rice, chana, raita, soyabean sabzi, chappati and bananas.
Ramandeep Singh from Moga said, “The food served to us is very good and I’m glad I got an opportunity to study here.”
Another student, Gurpreet Singh from Jagraon, said, “The best thing about the hostel mess is that the meals served to us are always freshly cooked and the food is very tasty. The mess contractor hasn’t repeated a single meal during the past three days.”
Manmohan Singh, the mess contractor, said, “We are trying our best to serve quality meals to the students and on our side we make every effort to maintain cleanliness.”

repeat any meal. The aim is to provide healthy food to students, each of whom will be provided an apple or banana on alternate days.”

A total of 12 students reported at the residential school for meritorious students on Tuesday. Of these six were of non-medical, five of commerce and one of medical.
Nearly 282 students have reported in the school till Tuesday and there are total 384 seats. Textbooks of medical and non-medical stream reached the residential school on Tuesday.
Girls hostel still under construction
PWD officials have failed to complete the girls’ hostel and have not been able to hand it over to the DEO, secondary. The girls are staying in boy’s hostel and boys in the school building.
No doctor at the school
In the absence of permanent doctor at the residential school, two students, who were ill, were sent back home on Tuesday. Nearly 12 students have been suffering from cold, cough and fever at the school. Dr Manisha from civil surgeon office visited the school to provide medical aid to the students.
