In a meeting held recently, Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema directed all the district guidance counsellors to collect the data from the schools.

On January 13, district guidance counsellor Santokh Singh directed all the government school heads to provide him the mobile numbers of the students of Class X and XII. The last date to send the information is January 15.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Singh said, “The idea is to update the students of Class 10 and 12 on upcoming examinations. If they get mobile alerts than they will not miss the examination. We will provide the students of all streams the latest information regarding schedules of examinations. The school heads are directed to provide us the mobile numbers of the students and in case one doesn’t have mobile, he or she can provide the number of parents.”

The students will be informed about the Joint Entrance Examination (JET), All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT), Common Entrance Test (CET), etc, through mobile alerts so that no one misses the opportunities.
