Swine flu claims woman's life

Swine flu claimed the life of another person on Monday. The 45-year-old woman belonged to Ludhiana and was undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), Ludhiana. She was admitted to the hospital around 10 days ago.

The 45-year-old woman belonged to Ludhiana and was undergoing treatment at Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), Ludhiana. She was admitted to the hospital around 10 days ago.

With the woman's demise, the toll of swine flu deaths this year has reached 12. Six of the deceased were from Ludhiana.

Meanwhile, district epidemiologist Dr Anil Verma has appealed to all private hospitals to contact the civil surgeon's office to avail of free medicines to treat swine flu.

Dr Verma said sample bottles to collect throat swab for testing H1N1 were also available at the civil surgeon's office. He said the tests were conducted free of cost.

He said people, who had came in contact with swine flu patients, were also being given medicines.
