People these days are making way to psychologists and doctors with complaints of severe stress or depression.

Dr Rajeev Gupta, consultant psychiatrist at MANAS centre, said, “These days I am dealing with people coming to me with complaints of sleeplessness, sadness, restlessness, suicidal tendencies, not in mood to work, laziness and depression. While some others feel sleepy all the time, and eat more.”

“Winter usually set a depression, as sunlight becomes dim, days become grey and nights long. It affects the brain cells directly and sets mood disorder,” Dr Gupta said.

Experts say mainly people between the age group of 25 and 40 years fall more to winter depression. “The age group which has more responsibilities and has many works to do, becomes depressed easily in this season,” Dr Gupta said.

Dr Gauhar Vatsyayan, chief consultant, ayurveda department at Deep Hospital, said, “The life circle is related to sun, thus when the sunlight and its duration decreases, person naturally becomes depressive.”
