According to sources, the PGIMER administration conducted the examination across the country at different centres and more than 25,000 candidates appeared for the exam. It is for the first time the PGIMER has held any online examination for the recruitment or admission.

To hold the exam, the institute had even given a contract to a private firm, but serious lapses had happened while conducting the exam on Saturday.

The servers were down in many centres and the examination couldn’t start on time. Many centres also witnessed huge protests by candidates and their parents against poor arrangement during the examination.
Besides, the biometric imprinting system didn’t work in a number of centres.

Around two years back, the institute had conducted an entrance examination for the admission to MD/MS courses. During the exam, the CBI arrested several persons for using hitech devices to leak the question paper. Most of these were girls from Andhra Pradesh.

Even in September 2010, the CBI had arrested two PGIMER doctors for doing for securing admission in post graduate courses by impersonation.
