Robbers had looted a scooter and other articles from the house before decamping.

Ameer Singh was living alone, as a result there was no one at home at the time of incident.

The sweeper of the area was first to know about the incident when he came to Singh's house to collect garbage on Wednesday morning. On finding Singh lying on the floor in a pool of blood, he had raised an alarm, following which area residents sounded the police.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem examination to civil hospital.
