Baljinder Singh Randhawa, Preetinder Singh Padda and Amuldeep Kaur have made the city proud by achieving the rank of 200, 400 and 860, respectively.

Success came to Padda (27) in his second attempt. A law graduate from Guru Nanak Dev University's regional campus at Jalandhar, Padda would now make it either to the Indian Police Service or Indian Revenue Service. For the exam, Padda took coaching from two Delhi based coaching institutes.

"It was my parents who motivated me to join the civil service. Since my childhood, my father has motivated me to go for the civil service exam. It was in college that I made up my mind to pursue a career in civil service," said Padda, whose father Saranjit Singh Padda is a retired deputy district attorney while mother Sativinder Kaur is a retired schoolteacher.

"It is mainly because of my parent's guidance that I have been able to achieve this feat," Padda said.

Right after completing her master's in political science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Amuldeep appeared in civil service exam and secured a rank of 860 in her very first attempt. "Although I will join whatever central service I get, I am preparing to again appear in the exam this year as well," she said.
