Three injured in air compressor blast in Jalandhar

Three workers were injured when an air compressor exploded at a bicycle tube manufacturing unit on the Sodal road locality on Wednesday morning.

Three workers were injured when an air compressor exploded at a bicycle tube manufacturing unit on the Sodal road locality on Wednesday morning.

The injured were identified as Naresh Kumar of Vaishali district in Bihar, Satya Parkash and Sachin Kumar of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.

They were living in various localities of the city and working in separate sections of Palta Rubbers Private Limited. Naresh Kumar, who suffered injuries on his thighs, said that he was working near the compressor, when it exploded all of a sudden and badly damaged the roof of the room. Half of the roof collapsed on them due to which they were injured.

The compressor exploded with a deafening sound and created panic among the people. It was being used to check any leakage in cycle tubes before their final packaging by workers.

The factory’s owner Sameer Palta said that he was sitting in the office when the incident occurred and he rushed to the scene and took the injured to a nearby health care institute.
