The counter intelligence unit of Amritsar police claimed to have arrested three people with 600-gram heroin and Rs 15 lakh of which Rs 12 lakh was in new currency notes.

The accused have been identified as Karaj Singh, Malkeet Singh and Jaswinder Singh, all residents of Gulami Wala village in Ferozepur district.
The three were nabbed while carrying the contraband and cash in a Honda City car after getting an input, said counter intelligence inspector general (IG) MF Farooqui addressing a press conference on Sunday.
“We had nabbed a smuggler Gurnam Singh a couple of days ago and recovered 5kg heroin from him. We nabbed the three of his accomplices after questioning him,” Farooqui said.
He further said, “Preliminary probe reveals that with Gurnam’s help, one Hardev Singh, his son Babban Raj Singh and Gurpreeet Singh had smuggled a heroin consignment from the border Muhawa outpost. Hardev delivered part of the consignment to Karaj, Malkeet and Jaswinder, who further delivered some of it to another party. On Sunday, the accused had come to Amritsar along with the drug money and heroin to be delivered to another party.”
Farooqui said Gurnam’s accomplice Hardev is still at large.
