Stressing that people of India and Pakistan need to learn a lesson from the past, Rana Mohammad Iqbal Khan, speaker, Punjab (Pakistan) Assembly, on Thursday said it was time to work together for a better future.
The speaker, who is on a personal visit to attend the marriage of a friend in India, while talking to reporters at the Attari border, said that keeping the welfare of people of India and Pakistan in the forefront, it is necessary to overcome the differences and march ahead towards peace and prosperity.
He said that keeping the sentiments of the elderly in mind, he had initiated a proposal to exempt visa for the elderly so that they could fulfil their dream of visiting their place of birth without any hassle.
He said the exchange of expertise in various fields like agriculture and solar energy would be a welcome step.
He was received by revenue minister Bikram Majithia at Attari.
Majithia said the enhanced people-to-people contact and stronger economic ties would bring the two nations closer. He said we needed to complement each other's strengths and weaknesses and move forward together.
