Barely two months after a Danish woman was molested in the holy city, a 40-year-old tourist from Delhi was allegedly raped by a head constable of the Government Railway Police (GRP) here on Wednesday.

The accused, Ajmer Singh (40), was arrested on Thursday. A case under sections 376 (rape), 380 (theft) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Civil Lines police station.

The victim alleged that on November 13, when she was sitting in the waiting room of the railway station here along with her four minor children, the accused approached her around 10:30pm and offered help to find her accommodation. She claimed that the cop returned a few minutes later in plain clothes and took her to a hotel, where he bolted the door from the inside and threatened her children with dire consequences. She alleged that he took her to the washroom and raped her thrice. The next day, the accused allegedly barged into her room and took away more than Rs 11,000.
