Traffic cops tighten three-wheeler norms

In the wake of looting and snatching incidents involving a three-wheeler gang, the traffic police on Sunday met with three-wheeler drivers at the police lines, regarding the issue of passengers being picked up by them from the roadside which caused traffic snarls.

In the wake of looting and snatching incidents involving a three-wheeler gang, the traffic police on Sunday met with three-wheeler drivers at the police lines, regarding the issue of passengers being picked up by them from the roadside which caused traffic snarls.

The additional deputy commissioner of the police (ADCP) traffic Gurdeep Singh, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) traffic Harjit Singh, traffic incharge Vinod Kumar and district transport officer (DTO) Anil Garg addressed the meeting.

Kumar said with a rise in incidents concerning an autorickshaw gang and traffic problems in the city, autorickshaw owners and drivers must register their three-wheelers till August 30 at the nearest Suvidha centre.

Owners have to submit copies of vehicle registration, driver's license, permit, identity and residential proof along with photographs and a fee of `50.

Senior officials also issued directions to three-wheeler drivers to install number plates and paste reflector tape all around the vehicle. The reflector tape would be issued to three-wheelers registered with the police and the transport office.
