Two-day old body of 82-yr-old woman found in her Panchkula house

The initial probe suggested that the mental condition of the victim’s daughter is not believed to be sound, which might be one of the reasons why she did not inform the police about the death.

An 82-year-old woman’s body was found under mysterious circumstances at her one-kanal house in Sector 7, here on Wednesday afternoon.The matter came to the light when the neighbours informed the police, after foul smell spread in the area.The police found the victim Mohinder Kaur’s body in her bed.Kaur was living with her 42-year-old unmarried daughter Jyoti.As per the initial medical reports, the body is over two-day old.

The woman had been suffering from cancer for the last four years, police said.

“We will be investigating as to why her daughter did not raise alarm regarding her mother’s death, despite being in the house. For now, we are awaiting the post-mortem reports before starting the probe. The report will shed more light on the cause and circumstances of the death,” said station house officer (SHO),Sector 5 police station, Karambir Singh.

The body was shifted to a general hospital in Sector 6 in the evening only andpost-mortem will be conducted on Thursday, said the SHO. “Forensic samples have been taken from the house,” he said.Karambir said, it might be a natural death case as the woman was suffering from cancer for last four years.

However, an official said, if the post-mortem report raises any doubts, her questioning will be vital.She was not even at home when the police arrived.The woman is survived by her husband who is separated from her and resides in Zirakpur.
