Two held with heroin worth Rs 1 cr near Moga

Moga district police have arrested two notorious smugglers including a woman in its special drive against drug peddlers and recovered 200 gm of heroin worth Rs one crore besides recovering Rs 3, 55, 290 in cash, eight mobile phones and a vehicle.

Moga district police have arrested two notorious smugglers including a woman in its special drive against drug peddlers and recovered 200 gm of heroin worth Rs one crore besides recovering Rs 3, 55, 290 in cash, eight mobile phones and a vehicle.

Moga senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurpreet Singh Toor said Fatehgarh Panjtoor police party headed by SHO Jagtar Singh during patrolling nabbed one woman on suspicion identified as Shabu Kaur, drug peddler of Daulewal village and on search, the police recovered 100 gm of heroin worth Rs 50 lakh and cash of Rs 55,290.

She was going to sell the drug to her customers in the nearby villages.

The SSP also stated that the district CIA police patrolling party also signalled to stop the vehicle near Mehal Kalan village on Kotisekhan-Zira road last evening.

On searching the vehicle, police nabbed the driver identified as one Devinder Singh, resident of Daulewala village and recovered 100 gm of heroin worth Rs 50 lakh, Rs 3 lakh in cash and eight mobile phones.

Nihal Singh Wala police last evening also arrested two drug peddlers and recovered more than 16,500 tablets and 300 capsules from their possession.

The police have registered a case against the culprits under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
