Two killed in accident at Fatehgarh Sahib

Two persons were killed and two others were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a stationary truck from behind near Rurki village on the Sirhind-Patiala highway here on Thursday morning.

Two persons were killed and two others were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a stationary truck from behind near Rurki village on the Sirhind-Patiala highway here on Thursday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Jagjit Singh, 55, and Amarjit Singh, 50. The seriously injured Paramjit Kaur, 50, and Mandeep Singh, 28, were rushed to the civil hospital here where the doctors referred them to the PGI, Chandigarh, where their condition was stated to be critical.

Kuljeet Singh, in-charge of Mullepur police station, said the incident occurred at 7 am. He said a car (PB 10 DW 9009) coming from the Patiala side was on its way to Katala village in Ludhiana district.

He said as soon as it reached Rurki village, it suddenly hit the wrongly parked stationary truck (PB 10 EH 7016) on the roadside. He said the impact of the accident was such that the two people, sitting on the front seats died on the spot.
