More than two months after the municipal corporation House approved the citizen charter Act with a lot of fanfare and a promise to implement it from October 1, the UT administration has yet to notify it.

The MC House also approved a penalty of Rs 10 per day on the officers responsible for delaying the work. Councillors say the administration doesn’t want to make the officers accountable.

Speaking to HT, MC commissioner Bhawna Garg said, “We are waiting for the notification from the UT administration.”

Former mayor Subhash Chawla said, “When it comes to issuing notifications regarding burdening the people in the form of new taxes, the administration is quick, but is least bothered when it comes to residents’ welfare.”

BJP councillor Satinder Singh said they would take up the issue in the coming House meeting.

On September 8, the MC House approved the citizen charter, fixing the time frame for all kinds of civic works.

The details of all the citizen charter will be put on website www.mcchandigarh.gov.in.
