The sectors developed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and Haryana Housing Board may become part of the municipal corporation (MC) here.
At the second meeting of the MC held here on Wednesday, extension of the local body coverage to the urban estate was on the agenda.
In Karnal, all areas except for the old locality of the city and 15 villages on its periphery can see development from the MC projects. In rest of the area, the corporation would have no say in any kind of project.
The urban estates and private colonies are represented by the councillors.
Councillors and residents are demanding the urban estates to bring under the MC's ambit for a universal planning and development of the city.
Deputy commissioner Vikas Yadav, the ex-officio commissioner of the MC, has proposed to convene a special meeting on the point where the councillors representing the sectors would be asked to give their suggestions.
Sujata Arora, who represents sectors 7 and 8, said that the voters expect development and sanitation in their areas but the MC had no role in it.
The issue of long-pending demand of shifting the dairies was also discussed and the councillors unanimously demanded that it should be done on priority basis.
