UT inspector general of police (IGP) Tejinder Singh Luthra has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the teacher recruitment scam.

The five-member team will meet daily and submit a final report to the IGP in 30 days. SP (operations) Ravi Kumar Singh will monitor the SIT as he is looking into the case. Two sub-inspectors are already assisting Singh in the case.

Sources revealed that the decision to form the group was taken after director school education (DSE) Rubinderjit Singh Brar met the IG.

Luthra told HT, “We have formed a SIT, especially for the recruitment scam. They will submit a report to me within a month.”

“We have already started studying what has happened so far and what more is required of us. We will be a team of five people working on this daily,” said Kumar.

He added that the Chandigarh education department had given details sought from it, but Panjab University was yet to respond.

Kumar said the SIT would also question Dinesh Kumar Yadav, who was arrested in connection with the two first-information reports registered by the VB in July this year.
