Vet Varsity gets All India Network prog worth 4 cr

The department of veterinary surgery and radiology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) bagged the prestigious All India Network Programme (AINP) on 'Diagnostic Imaging and Management of Surgical Affections in Animals'. NS Saini, professor-cum-head is the principal investigator (PI) of this AINP project.

The department of veterinary surgery and radiology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) bagged the prestigious All India Network Programme (AINP) on 'Diagnostic Imaging and Management of Surgical Affections in Animals'. During a recent meeting at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, KML Pathak, deputy director general (Animal Sciences) ICAR mentioned that the department of veterinary surgery and radiology, GADVASU, Ludhiana is one of the collaborating centres of this network program. He further added that this was the first ever network programme given by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in the area of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.

Under this programme, the department has been sanctioned worth Rs 3.97 crores during a five year plan. Various advanced imaging and surgical facilities like CT-scan unit, ultrasonographic unit, endoscopic unit etc will be established through this program.

NS Saini shared that the department of veterinary surgery and radiology, GADVASU, Ludhiana was also a Centre of Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT) sanctioned since 1994 by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR).

The department has pioneered in the development of large animal surgery, anaesthesia, orthopedics and ultrasonography. Network project allocation to the department will further enhance the capability in term of teaching, research, human resource development (HRD) and service to livestock and pet animal owners.

On this occasion, SNS Randhawa, director of research and PD Juyal, registrar, congratulated and praised the faculty for the good work being done in the areas of diagnostic imaging and surgery at GADVASU.
