To educate electorate on their right to vote and to take the message to every household, the Nalagarh administration has come up with an innovative plan. The administration has decided to paste stickers on wrappers of daily need products, including packaged food, chips, cold drink bottles and even vegetables and fruits, to take this message to every individual and household.
A team of officials led by the Nalagarh subdivisional magistrate-cum-assistant returning officer Lalit Jain and volunteers went to the Nalagarh bazaar and pasted stickers on packets of eatables, carrying the message to come out and vote on.
Jain said stickers are pasted on all items of daily need available in shops so that maximum number of voters could be educated. A message ‘Ek do teen chaar, vote karein sab abki bar’ has been written on these stickers.
He said the purpose is to motivate people for ensuring maximum electoral participation. Earlier, the administration had organised a candlelight march to educate people on their voting right. The SDM said a “democracy van” had been flagged off to educate people, especially women in Nalagarh and Doon constituencies.
Jain said to guide people on electoral process, a facilitation centre has been opened at the mini-secretariat complex. He said in the centre, people will be educated on the functioning of the EVM.
