VOX POP: Bathinda raises concern on women safety issue?

In a country where new anti-rape law came into force after the brutal Delhi gangrape, safety issue still haunts women. Bathinda woman raise their concern.

More women police should be recruited in police force so that victims can comfortably share their problem. Victims should be treated as victim not criminal because after complaint she again has to face humiliation - Geeta, Bathinda.

Family or parents term their girl as 'izzat' of family which suppress their voice and keep the matter inside four walls of room. Parents should support their child and society must step in their problem - Shelja Monga, Bathinda.

Police have to change their status and become friendlier with public. They have power with which a big change can be seen in the society but on ground they try to scare public with their powers - Simi Aulakh, Bathinda.

Whenever public approaches police regarding this kind of matter their language is so objectionable and hurting that one feel insulted. Reason others don't try to approach police - Komal, Bathinda.

Minimum educational qualification is required for the recruitment of hawaldar in police because at initial stage public have to face them. They must have sense of social science - Savita, Bathinda.

Women still has to get the respect she deserves. Everyone is familiar with what disrespect these policewala do with public, senior officers too has knowledge about it and they must organize regular short term courses on their language and behaviour with public - Garima, Bathinda.

Girls should get awareness on our laws that are associated to them. Political parties spend so much of money to stop dowry, female foeticide and many others related problems, why don't they advertise laws in the same way - JaspreetKaur, Bathinda.

Social pressure is so much on family that if they go against them, mental and physical torture has to be faced. One way we say that girl must inform police, what police do? They ask for compromise to get their pockets filled. Police must change their working style and image - Dimpi, Bathinda.
