There have been reports of destruction due to heavy rain in the Banjar area of Kullu district and parts of tribal Lahaul Spiti, where a few footbridges have been washed away.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure as the Sutlej is flowing above the normal level. The ban has been imposed till September 15.

Kullu deputy commissioner Rakseh Kanwar said the ban has been imposed to avoid any loss of human life in water sports activity. It is dangerous to go near the water bodies during monsoon as the water level can rise unexpectedly, he added. He urged the tourists and local residents not to go near the Beas and its tributaries.
