Water tank worth rs 1.5 cr built for Shaheedi Jor Mel

A water tank worth Rs 1.5 crore has been built to supply sufficient water to the over 200 langars at the 3-day Shaheedi Jor Mel, an annual event held in December.During the event, over 20 lakh people visit the Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib, and the people of district arrange more than 200 langars (community kitchen) for the pilgrims.

The tank of capacity 1.5 lakh litre, which was built to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the langars, was completed in five months.

Sanitation department executive engineer Jasbir Singh said, "We will make sure that clean water is supplied for all purposes. Those who need free water connection for the langar can contact 01763-232503. They may also approach the department in person."
