A woman was reportedly robbed of jewellery worth Rs 70 lakh while she was travelling on a train near Ambala on Saturday night. A miscreant after snatching the woman's purse alighted from the train.
The victim, Rani Arora, is the wife of the director of cassette company T-series, Darshan Kumar, brother of Gulshan Kumar.
Interestingly, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has not filed any case in this regard, saying that the incident happened near Ambala. RPF officials have asked the victim to file a complaint with the Ambala Government Railway Police (GRP).
The train halted at the Ludhiana railway station for nearly two hours, as the victim persisted to file a case at the Ludhiana GRP. However, she left after the officials refused to file the case.
Rani had boarded the Jammu Tawi special train from Delhi to Jammu. A group of 16 people, including Rani Arora, was travelling in coach B-1 (second AC). They were going to pay obeisance at Vaishno Devi Mandir, Katra.
According to Rani, a youth entered the coach at around 1.45 am as the train stopped at the Ambala railway station. He suddenly snatched her purse containing gold and diamond jewellery and alighted from the train in a flash.
"As the train reached the Ludhiana railway station at 3.05 am, I sounded the RPF about the robbery, but instead of taking any action, the officials asked me to go back to Ambala and file my complaint there. I requested them to file a case and nab the accused, but they were least interested in taking action," said Rani.

{{/usCountry}}RPF post commander Yashwant Singh said the woman was complaining about the incident of snatching that happened near Ambala. They asked her to lodge a complaint with the Ambala GRP, as the place of incident fell under the Ambala GRP's jurisdiction.
Train sans security
The Jammu Tawi special train was running without security. According to the victim, as the incident happened she tried to find security on the train to file her complaint, but did not find. As the train reached the Ludhiana railway station, she came to know that no security was available on the train. Later, four officials were asked to escort the train from the Ludhiana railway station.
