Notwithstanding the transfer orders of fellow workers, hundreds of workers of Indo Farm Company staged a protest dharna outside the office of labour officer at Baddi on Saturday.
Meanwhile, president of the state unit of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTCU) also announced its support to the protesting workers.
The stalemate between the factory management and workers entered 20th day on Saturday, affecting production and other related operations, as almost all workers went on indefinite strike reportedly against the unilateral decision of the management of the company, issuing transfer orders of some workers outside the state.
The sloganeering workers assembled outside the labour officer and held a rally against the “dictatorial approach” of the managements against the Himachali workers. The rally was addressed by INTUC president Hardeep Bawa and other trade union leaders.
General secretary of the Indo Farm Workers Union Sohan Singh said the management had terminated the service contract of over half a dozen workers and issued transfer orders of office bearers of the union in neighbouring states.
“This lead to resentment among the factory workers, who after discussing the issue in a meeting decided to go on the strike till their demands were accepted,” he added.

{{/usCountry}}The leaders said since the company management had assured the workers that they would withdraw orders concerning termination of service contract and transfer, but now the management was backtracking form its promise that forced the workers to go on indefinite strike.
Bawa said since the factor management had introduced the contract labour system, the INTUC would oppose the prevailing practice and launch an agitation to provide justice to the labour class.
