The activists alleged that the BJP wanted to malign the image of Congress stalwart Virbhadra Singh just ahead of Parliament polls. "A similar strategy was adopted by the BJP during the assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh, but people of the state taught them a lesson. Despite that, the opposition is still leveling false allegations, which would not be tolerated at any cost," said the activists.

District Congress Committee's general secretary Sanjeev Sharma alias Neetu said that the BJP had framed such conspiracies against the chief minister but faced setback as the allegations proved false. He alleged that Dhumal's sons were propagating false allegations against the CM to shield themselves from the ongoing enquiries, especially in the HPCA case.
