A 19-year-old youth from Uttarakhand was found murdered in a hotel room near bus stand on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Parkash Singh Rana.The matter came to the fore when the hotel staff got no response from the victim’s room despite knocking the door persistently.
The staff sounded the police, who reached the spot and found through preliminary investigation that the youth was strangulated to death with a shirt.
Avtar Singh ,manager of Hotel Park Blue, said on Thursday evening, Parkash, along with a man and a woman, came to the hotel and asked for a single room. However, when they were refused a single room, they rented two rooms. He added that Parkash was addressing the woman as his sister-in-law.
When the housekeeping staff went to the rooms on Friday morning, they found Parkash lying dead in one of the rooms and the unidentified couple missing.
They called the police, who found empty bottles of whisky and beer from the victim’s room.
Inspector Dharampal, station house officer (SHO) at Division Number 5 police station, said it appeared that the youth was strangulated to death with a shirt. The body was sent to civil hospital for post-mortem examination, he added.
He said the victim had submitted a copy of his voter card at the hotel’s reception as identification proof while renting rooms in the hotel. The police are trying to contact the address mentioned on the voter card.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against unidentified persons at Division Number 5 police station.
