Barely 48 hours ahead of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally here, the Rajya Sabha horse-trading scams of 2012 and 2010 came back to haunt the party and its claim of corruption-free good governance. Sitting Jamshedpur MP Ajoy Kumar on Tuesday released a 21-minute video that contains a graphic account of BJP candidate Bidyut Baran Mahato’s involvement. The MP also sent the video to CBI for an inquiry.

Modi will to address an election rally at Gopal Maidan (Bistupur) in support of Mahato. Kumar plans to question Modi on the contents of the video.

“We haven’t got the permission to take out a procession or meet Modi, but we’ve faxed a letter to the district administration and BJP state president requesting them to ensure that our 9-15 questions and the pendrive containing the video are handed over to Modi. We’ve got information that BJP national president Rajnath Singh too is aware of the video,” Kumar said during a press conference .

It may be recalled that a CBI witness has named Mahato in the bribery scam during Rajya Sabha Polls-2012.

“We’re not revealing the name of the person who gave us the video. The video deals with BJP candidate’s role in the RS horse-trading scam involving Trinamool Congress MP KD Singh. It doesn’t look like a cut-paste job and more looks like a police interrogation session,” the MP said.

The district administration has banned vehicular movement in and around Bistupur during the rally and people would have to walk to the rally venue, passing through several round of intensive frisking. The unprecedented security drill is in view of serious terrorist threat to Modi. Earlier, a series of bomb blasts allegedly by Indian Mujahideen had rocked Modi’s rally in Patna on October 17 last.
