The last theory papers of both intermediate and matriculate examinations were conducted on Thursday. However, the evaluation of answer sheets may take longer this year, as almost all the government schoolteachers would soon be appointed on election duties.

The election here would be conducted in three phases — April 10, April 17 and April 24. On an average, an evaluator checks around 30 answer sheets every day.During the elections, around 100 teachers would be on duty in each phase, thereby delaying the evaluation of at least 9,000 answer sheets in every phase. However, JAC chairperson Anand Bhushan said that despite the election duties, the council would take all possible steps to complete the evaluation of answer sheets on time.

“The teachers are expected to make up for the delay after their election duties,” Bhushan said, adding that during elections, the answer sheets of students from the constituencies, where election is conducted, would be sent to other districts for evaluation.

“It is too early to comment on tentative time of result declaration. However, we will try our best to make it on time,” he said. Besides, some teachers would also be given duties during the vote counting, which may further delay the evaluation process.
