A Delhi Police special cell team had arrested Sami from Mewat, Haryana on January 18, while the Odisha Police had nabbed Katki from his madrassa in Jagatpur near Cuttack on December 15, 2015. They are accused of recruiting youngsters from Jamshedpur and indoctrinating them to wage war against India. A team of eight Tihar Jail security personnel led by two Delhi Police officials had brought the two from Delhi to the steel city on Monday night.

Katki and Sami have to be produced before a Delhi court on May 6.

“We will soon take them on remand for interrogation and follow up the clues found during investigations as well as the leads provided by the Delhi Police special cell,” Jamshedpur DSP Jacinta Kerketta told HT.

Sami and Katki are also accused of travelling to Pakistan to receive training in terrorism. Katki, however, denied the charges. “I have not gone to Pakistan and everything will be clear after the charge sheet is produced,” he said while he was being taken to the Ghaghidih Central Jail.

The city police are likely to take the two on remand on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Police sources told HT that Masood and Naseem — two city-based alleged associates of Sami and Katki — too will be taken on remand for interrogation.
