After playing a menacing police officer in Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will be seen playing the antagonist in Nayanthara’s upcoming crime-thriller Imaikkaa Nodigal. In the film’s first teaser released on Thursday, Anurag steals the spotlight in a split second appearance towards the end and audiences can’t stop raving about him. So much so that, they even trended the hashtag Anurag In K’town in no time on social media.
Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu, a former assistant of Murugadoss, the film features Kashyap in a character called Rudra. Upon signing the project, Kashyap had said in a statement. “What pulled me towards acting in Imaikkaa Nodigal is the role. Rudra is not your typical baddie. He doesn’t just smoke, drink, order his men around and indulge in item numbers. He is menacing, scary, smart and cunning. This strange mixture that forms the role is what tempted me to take it up although I was tied up with my own projects back in Mumbai. When the audiences watch the movie in theatre, if I’m able to evoke the tiniest of fears in them, as Rudra, I’ll consider my work done.”
Apparently, it was Murugadoss who convinced Anurag to meet director Ajay for story narration. From then on, it was the script and his character that bowled him over and made him sign the project. He is rumoured to be playing a serial killer in the film, which also stars Atharvaa and Raashi Khanna.
