Girish has brilliantly woven cyber crime into a family drama : Sachin Khedekar

Actor Sachin Khedekar on how his past five films have been with young actors and debutant directors

In the past one year, actor Sachin Khedekar has worked with debutant directors and young co-actors in Marathi films. From Varun Narvekar, who directed Muramba (2017), and Prasad Oak’s Kaccha Limbu (2017), followed by Nipun Dharmadhikari’s Baapjanma (2017) to now, Girish Joshi’s Take Care Good Night. Khedekar says, “There is so much to learn from these young people and debutants. I have literally spent the past one year working with newcomers and I have loved it. They don’t come with a baggage. Even if I am a senior (artiste), they look at me in a different light, which is very interesting.”

Talking about his young co-actors, Khedekar says, “Adinath (Kothare) and Parna (Pethe) are fabulous. Adinath fits the role well and has done a wonderful job. I have been watching Parna’s work for a while now. She is extremely talented. I just keep thinking, that when I was their age, I did not know so many things. The way they conduct themselves and their approach to roles is commendable.”

On how he decides on a project, Khedekar explains that it is the script that is of utmost importance to him. “Honestly, in Marathi we don’t have a Dharma or Yash Raj. So we only have the script to trust and rely on. For this particular film, the thriller element in the film was the most attractive. Girish has written some great films such as Kadachit (2007) and Kaksparsh (2012). He has done a wonderful job with this one too,” adds the actor.

The Golmaal Again (2017) actor shares details about Take Care Good Night and says that it is a family film about parenting with cyber crime as the backdrop. “I loved the script because of its subject. We always make films that are ahead of times or of the past. But this is one subject that is the need of the hour. Girish has brilliantly woven the subject into a family drama and has made it relevant,” says Khedekar, who plays Parna’s father in the film.
