The otherwise quiet bylanes of Prabhat Road in the city wore a busy look this weekend. The sleepy lanes were abuzz with citizens peeping from their homes, trying to get a glimpse of actor Madhuri Dixit-Nene as she shot for her first Marathi film, Bucket List. The actor has visited Pune several times to visit family and relatives, but this was her first time shooting for a film in the city. “I have several memories of Pune, as I have close relatives who reside here. As kids, we would visit them, and I continue to do so even today. I remember spending my vacations climbing trees, eating wild berries, guavas and other specialities. I have happy memories of playing with my cousins. However, this is the first time I am shooting in the city, and it has been interesting to see people shower me with their love,” says Madhuri.
The current film is Madhuri’s first movie since 2014’s Gulab Gang. Speaking about the new project, the actor says it was the character and script that made her choose the film. “I can’t reveal much about my character right now. However, the film is based in Pune and the story revolves around a Puneri family. I play a fascinating character and the growth of the character in the film is brilliant. It is a slice-of-life film about discovering oneself,” she adds.
Madhuri reveals that she has taken care to bring out the local mannerisms of her character. “I have infused a lot of Puneri wit in my character. In fact, all the characters around me [in the film] are typical Puneites.”
The film is being directed by Tejas Deoskar, and Madhuri is all praises for him. “Tejas has a great vision. He has been able to bring all of his vision to life throughout the film.”
