Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Spyder is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases of this year. As the Rs 120 crore spy thriller gears up for release on September 27, all eyes are on the film’s box-office prospects as it’s tipped to be the most expensive film in Mahesh’s career, which means it has to do exceptionally well at the ticket windows. Spyder will open big everywhere, especially in the US where its distributor ATMUS is leaving no stone unturned to make it the widest release of Mahesh’s career.
According to a statement, ATMUS and AZ India under SSS (Satyam, Shivam and Sundaram) are planning it as the widest release in the history of south Indian cinema. The exhibitors have been overwhelmed with inquiries and have requested the distributor to open Spyder in as many locations as possible. The film is tipped to release in over 600 screens in both Tamil and Telugu in the US.
In the film, Mahesh plays an Intelligence Bureau officer and according to director AR Murugadoss, the film will shine a spotlight on how secret agencies work. Actor-filmmaker SJ Suryah plays the antagonist. Slated to release on September 27, the film also stars Rakul Preet Singh. Spyder will have a simultaneous release in Malayalam as well.
