People are still unaware of the vicious cyber world: Girish Joshi
Writer-actor Girish Joshi, who is making his directorial debut with a cyber crime plot, talks about his writing process and working with Sachin Khedekar
While choosing their directorial debut, many prefer to play it safe and make a simple choice. However, writer-actor Girish Joshi chose a thriller for his debut directorial. The Kadachit (2007) writer is excited about his film, Take Care Good Night, which highlights the complexities of cyber crime and security.
Speaking about how he zeroed in on the subject, Girish says, “I came across a few incidents that occurred in the lives of people around me. One of my relatives was a victim of a credit card scam. That is when I realised the gravity and magnitude of the situation. Having said that, people are still unaware of the vicious cyber world and brush it off, thinking these are just remote incidents.”
The Rudram (2017) writer wanted to help and clear these misconceptions among people, and took to writing about it. He explains, “Honestly, I’ve been keen on direction for five years now. However, all the writing projects I was being assigned already had directors. So, once I wrote this script, I decided to direct it myself.”
When asked if he was sceptical about making his directorial debut with a niche genre like thriller, he says, “To be honest, I think thriller is a safe genre. It is something that amazes the audience when made well. I feel I’ve chosen a safe genre and it’s not at all risky.”
The film’s cast includes actors Sachin Khedekar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Irawati Harshe, Adinath Kothare and Parna Pethe. “Sachin and I have known each other for 20 years now. He is an old friend and throughout the shoot, it was like having a friendly chat. I’ve known most of the cast members for many years and share a comfortable bond with all,” says Girish.
