Was shocked by Rajamouli’s interview, didn’t leave Baahubali for money: Sridevi

Remember SS Rajamouli’s interview in May, 2017 where the Baahubali fame director had talked about how he wanted to cast Sridevi in the franchise that catapulted him to stardom? He had then said that he wanted to cast Sridevi as Sivagami Devi in both the films, an offer she refused saying the fee offered was below her expectations. Eventually the role went to Ramya Krishnan who received praise from all quarters for her portrayal of a headstrong queen.
Sridevi hasn’t taken kindly to that interview. Mid Day has quoted her saying, “I was shocked and hurt by his interview. Rajamouli is a calm and dignified person. I was very happy to (have got a chance to) work with him. But, the way he spoke about the issue made me feel very sad.”
She added that the alleged attitude wouldn’t have taken her so far in the Indian film industry. Sridevi said, “People would have sent me packing if I was like that. I don’t know if the producer wrongly told Rajamouli that I made all these demands, but it is not in good taste to speak like this.”
Baahubali 2, starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati in important roles, broke many box office records, and is awaiting its release in China.
