MUMBAI: Professional boxer Vijender Singh has slammed India’s boxing authorities and demanded that action be taken against those responsible for the state of the nation’s boxing at the moment.
India, which sent eight boxers at the London Games in 2012, will only be represented by three pugilists at the Rio Olympics — Shiva Thapa (56kg), Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Vikas Krishan (75kg).
“I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and explained each and every thing, but he is a busy person so he said ‘just email me everything’, so I just followed him, but this is really bad and I think we should take strong action (against) those who are responsible for this thing. Last time eight boxers, this time three boxers,” said Vijender.
