MUMBAI: Western Railway pulled off a 3-2 win against Abhi Foundation in the Mumbai Hockey Association’s opening Super Division league match at the Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate, on Monday.
Abhi Foundation goalkeeper Suraj Karkera, who was declared the man of the match, endured many attacks but couldn’t keep out efforts by Stanley Minz (6th min), Sanjay Yadav (19th) and Rajan Kandulna (55th). Abhi Foundation did well to score through Yograj Singh (34th) and Mithilesh Kumar (53rd).
SUMIT NETS FOUR
Sumit Kuvekar struck four goals in Air India Western Region’s 7-1 win against Freunds SC in the Mumbai District Football Association’s Second Division league on Monday. Amit Karle, Kalpesh Rane and Edgar Rodrigues added to miseries of Freunds who struck one against the flow of the game through Ivan Louis.
